Surah An Nahl: Ayat and Meaning in Relaxed Indonesian

Introduction

Surah An Nahl is the 16th Surah of the Quran. It has 128 verses and is named after the word “an-nahl” which translates to “the bee”. In this Surah, Allah (SWT) talks about the beauty of His creation and the blessings He has bestowed upon us.

Ayat 1-5: The Blessings of Allah

Allah starts the Surah by reminding us of His blessings. He says, “All praise is due to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who disbelieve assign equals to their Lord.” These Ayat remind us of the beauty of Allah’s creation and how we should be grateful for everything He has given us.

Ayat 6-10: The Creation of Man

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the creation of man. He says, “And He created you from clay, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge.” These Ayat remind us of the miracle of life and how Allah has created us with such precision and care.

Ayat 11-15: The Blessings of Food and Water

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the blessings of food and water. He says, “He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam. And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it.” These Ayat remind us of the importance of these blessings and how we should be grateful for them.

Ayat 16-20: The Creation of Animals

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the creation of animals. He says, “And Allah has created every moving creature from water. Of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.” These Ayat remind us of the diversity of Allah’s creation and how everything has a purpose.

Ayat 21-25: The Blessings of Travel

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the blessings of travel. He says, “And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed, in that are signs for those of knowledge. And of His signs is your sleep by night and day and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who listen.” These Ayat remind us of the importance of exploring the world around us and how it can help us gain knowledge.

Ayat 26-30: The Blessings of Rain

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the blessings of rain. He says, “And indeed, We sent Noah to his people, and he said, ‘O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day. Said the eminent among his people, ‘Indeed, we see you in clear error.’ Noah said, ‘O my people, there is not error in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds. I convey to you the messages of my Lord and advise you, and I know from Allah what you do not know.'” These Ayat remind us of the importance of following the guidance of Allah and His messengers.

Ayat 31-35: The Blessings of Gardens

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the blessings of gardens. He says, “For them who have done good is the best [reward] and extra. No darkness will cover their faces, nor humiliation. Those are companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally. But they who have earned [blame for] evil doings – the recompense of an evil deed is its equivalent, and humiliation will cover them. They will have from Allah no protector. It will be as if their faces are covered with pieces of the night – so dark [are they]. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.” These Ayat remind us of the importance of doing good deeds and avoiding evil.

Ayat 36-40: The Importance of Truth

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the importance of truth. He says, “And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], ‘Worship Allah and avoid Taghut.’ And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.” These Ayat remind us of the importance of following the truth and avoiding falsehood.

Ayat 41-45: The Blessings of Life and Death

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the blessings of life and death. He says, “And Allah has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allah they disbelieve? And they worship besides Allah that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.” These Ayat remind us of the cycle of life and how we should be grateful for every moment.

Ayat 46-50: The Importance of Justice

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the importance of justice. He says, “And We sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], ‘Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of Allah.’ Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. And [recall] when Moses said to his people, ‘Remember the favor of Allah upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who were afflicting you with the worst torment and were slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.’ And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'” These Ayat remind us of the importance of seeking justice and avoiding oppression.

Ayat 51-55: The Importance of Patience

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the importance of patience. He says, “And do not exchange the covenant of Allah for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allah is best for you, if only you could know. Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do. Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.” These Ayat remind us of the importance of being patient and relying on Allah’s promise of reward.

Ayat 56-60: The Importance of Charity

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the importance of charity. He says, “And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him]. And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom? Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that which they were doing.” These Ayat remind us of the importance of giving in the way of Allah and avoiding disobedience.

Ayat 61-65: The Importance of Good Company

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the importance of good company. He says, “And if Allah had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do. And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, ‘We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.'” These Ayat remind us of the importance of surrounding ourselves with good company and avoiding arguments that are not beneficial.

Ayat 66-70: The Importance of Seeking Knowledge

In these Ayat, Allah talks about the importance of seeking knowledge. He says, “The Day their faces will be turned over in the Fire, they will say, ‘How we wish we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger.’ And they will say, ‘Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way. Our Lord, give them double the punishment and curse them with a great curse.'” These Ayat remind us of the importance
